Truly striking, the huge pink blooms appear on long, dark green and strap-like stems before the leaves appear in spring. Deciduous, 80-100cm. Top dress with compost and organic fertiliser or 3:1:5 slow release and water well in the growing season. Oct. to April.
Location: Olifants River Valley to Peninsula, Caledon to George. Protected species.
Afrikaans: Seeroogblom
Brush-like heads of heavily scented rosy crimson flowers in summer. Leaves 4 large, strap shaped, flat on the ground. Excellent for dry spots and rockeries, a rare treasure.
Location: Oudtshoorn to KZN and Limpopo.
