An asset to any garden, this attractive shrub has glossy green leaves and masses of showy, pure white flowers in spring followed by decorative red berries. Plant in sunny or semi shade, sheltered, well-drained position and mulch with plenty of compost. Water and feed in summer but sparingly in winter, and prune to shape into a small tree or shrub .

Tall elegant water plant with long strap like leaves and showy, velvety brown inflorescences on long stalks, an ideal focal point for water gardens. Birds use the inflorescences for nesting material and the plant is used extensively for its medicinal and nutritional qualities. Control growth in small ponds by planting into submerged pots.
