Rare red and maroon tinged leaves make this a most attractive contrast plant for the garden or landscape. Attractive clusters of creamy flowers and orange fruits add to its desireability as a garden plant as do its thorns if planted as a dense hedge. Plant in sun or semi shade well drained position. Regular pruning will keep it in shape and applications of compost and or organic fertilizer will increase growth and vigor.

A medium shrub for a full sun position, very tough and easy to cultivate good used in mixed borders or even as a medium sised hedge the Ystervarksalie is an unusual and delightfull addition to any garden. Prune to keep neat especially after flowering - August / September and feed with slow release organic or chemical fertilizer. Does not tolerate frost well.
