Kirkia acuminata

Family: SIMAROUBACEAE

A fast-growing deciduous tree with glossy, light green compound leaves, this tree has attractively flaking grey bark. The trees are sacred to certain tribes in Zimabwe possibly because the roots store water which can be accessed in times of drought. The flowers are greenish-cream and rather insignifcant. The main attraction is the bright gold Autumn foliage.
