Afrikaans: Kaapse Kastaiing
Large handsome semi-deciduous trees, ±20m with beautiful, smooth, streaky white/grey bark on older trees. Profusion of striking, pink orchid-like flowers in large sprays on tips of branches make the trees stand out above the forest canopy and last well in the vase. Plant in deep soil in a sheltered position, water regularly and feed in spring for best results. Does well if planted with pioneer species.
Location: George to KZN, Gauteng, Mphumalanga, Swaziland and Limpopo
