Magnificent royal velvet or snow white blooms adorn these little gems. A delight in early spring, attracting butterflies and humans alike with their delicious scent and radiant blooms. Prefer full sun to slightly shaded position and thrive on additions of compost and organic fertilizer during winter growing season. Form large showy clumps if left undisturbed, water during dry spells in winter.

This pretty species has dark blue to violet flowers with dark red markings at the centre. It grows in winter and flowers from August to September. In nature it grows on damp clay flats and lower slopes of the Renosterveld. Mulch with good compost in June/July for best flowering.

Early flowering, the soft creamy yellow blooms bring gentle beauty and scent to the garden. Lovely in clay pots on the stoep or in a well lit room while flowering. Water well during growing period - winter early spring - and not at all in the summer. Thrives in a semi shade seasonally moist position, feed with organic slow release before flowering.

A most striking and unusual plant, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs. A cluster of vibrant red blooms with contrasting yellow throats shoots from a side-branch at ground level beside the low-growing tuft of leaves. A winter-growing bulb for a sunny or lightly shaded psition in well-drained soil. In nature, it grows on sandy flats in fynbos.
